Arts and culture are transformative forces which undeniably attract talent, investment and anchor long-term active communities, their ideas and ultimately create the place for cities.

They influence our quality of life and the strength of our communities and provide a source of inspiration and entertainment with wide-ranging impacts that resonate across our culture, society and economy.

The purpose of the Activation Strategy (2018-21) is to help shape the new Maroochydore City Centre’s identity, build a program of shared responsibility, attract local/global enterprise, and catalyse its story and place in the region during the first stages of development.

Your city your story

your city. your story. is about documenting the journey, capturing the story and realising the vision of Maroochydore City Centre.

A city is shaped by the people who inhabit it.

We recognise everyone’s contribution – the designers, builders, and the community development practitioners, the artists and creative entrepreneurs, the businesses and communities, that will bring the city to life.

Metropolitan (the MET), is the heartbeat of the new Maroochydore City Centre offering the first public access to the city.

An inclusive urban base, the MET works collaboratively with the community to program and host activities, events, exhibitions, festivals and workshops.

With a fully operational care, bar, lawn space and outdoor play area, The MET welcomes the entire Sunshine Coast Community and its visitors to eat, drink, explore and experience the evolution of their city from the ground up
