CityActivation

Arts and culture are transformative forces which undeniably attract talent, investment and ideas and influence a city’s identity.

They influence people’s quality of life, strengthen our communities and provide a source of inspiration and entertainment that resonate across our society and economy.

The purpose of the Activation Strategy (2018-21) is to help shape the new Maroochydore City Centre’s identity, build a program of shared responsibility, attract local and global enterprise, and catalyse its story and place in the region during the first stages of development.

As an ongoing project, yourcity. yourstory. will use arts-based programming to capture the city’s stories as they happen, stimulate ideas relevant to the future city, as well as generate its stories. It is a through- line to Maroochydore City Centre’s Activation Strategy that will concurrently generate an archive of the city building project and be central to the communications strategy.

Metropolitan

The cornerstone of the Maroochydore City Centre Activation Strategy (2018-2021) is Metropolitan, known as the MET, a temporary and ever evolving space, purpose designed to enable the community to engage with their future Maroochydore City Centre now.

Think outdoor grassed Amphitheatre with Stage, container Bar and flexible Workspace, the perfect combination of infrastructure to present a range of arts, community and entertainment events. Located at the new Maroochydore City Centre, it’s a space like no other on the Coast.

The MET has been designed to engage with and support businesses and individuals in the arts, design, technology, entrepreneurial, hospitality and events sectors, who complement and contribute to building our future city.
